St. Emilion is located east of Bordeaux and about 75 minutes from the house and is well worth a visit. This fortified medieval town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a great place to start in your wine tasting adventure. |
At the Maison du Vin you can be taught about how to taste and enjoy St. Emilion wine. The lesson, in English, was set in a classroom environment and was given by an incredible knowledgeable teacher from the local University. Thoroughly recommended for novice or wine connoisseurs alike. It is also possible to arrange for longer more in depth lessons, tasting or vineyard visits and the Office de Tourisme is an essential resource if you are planning to visit more vineyards in the area. They also offer bikes for rent. |
Maison du Vin was developed by the plethora of vineyards in the area & the incredibly well stocked shop sells a range of St. Emilion wines at the original Chateau prices. |

At the end of the tour there is a wine tasting of three wines: a Roman wine, a wine of around 1850 and a modern wine. Contact details: 05 56 39 39 20. |
