The location of the house, in rolling open countryside, creates a

wide range of outdoor pursuits possibilities from canoeing,

kayaking, horse riding, cycling, running, walking etc

The River Dronne provides excellent opportunities to travel over 30km of river from Riberac to St Aulaye, including sailing over weirs/dams. Canoes can be hired from ½ hr to a whole day from centres at Riberac (20km away from the house) or Aubeterre (16km) and starting around 6€ per person. Pedal boats can be hired from ½ hr to 2 hrs in Riberac (prices from 7€ to 16€) Enjoy peaceful trips along the wide river and take in the wonderful scenery, towns, villages and wildlife.

We have used the facilities at Aubeterre and they are fantastic. They have individual kayaks and two/ three person canoes and provide waterproof containers for your belongings and lifejackets for your safety. Before setting off, a pick up point is arranged and you telephone the centre to collect you.

Aubeterre - Located adjacent to the river beach. Open:7 days a week from 10am (Jul & Aug), 6 days a week (not Mon) (May, Jun & Sep), Tues to Sat (Winter)

Riberac With canoes/ kayak/ pedal boats ranging from 1 to 4 persons. Open: 7 days a week June to September 9:00 to 19:00

Slightly further away, in Montron there is another Canoe centre that provides trips of 3km to 17km (including night trips). Open Apr to Oct

Also at Brantome, there is a canoe hire facility with hire from 1 hr to a whole day. Also Cycle hire. Open every day from 1st May to 30th September. Booking required at weekends in peak season.
