The main houses provide tourist visits, samples, museum and shops with tours starting at around 9€ for around an hour, although each house varies. The tours generally explain the vineyards, the distillation process, the ageing warehouses, the making of the barrels and the blending of the cognac.
We have personally visited the Hennessy house and undertaken the tour & were certainly impressed. The tour included visiting the working ageing warehouses and we were able to see the oldest barrel of cognac they have (around 200 years old).
Whilst these main houses provide a range of activities there is a wide range of smaller, local houses making cognac or Pineau Charente and are open to the public for tours and tasting (degustation). The contact details are:
